Jim Jordan can’t do a thing about it

Jim Jordan is at it again, this time issuing a “warning” to the Washington D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb. Why? Schwalb is reportedly daring to investigate right winger Leonard Leo’s political dark money trail to determine whether there’s any criminality to it.

Here’s the thing. Jim Jordan, in his position as House Judiciary Committee Chair, can’t actually do anything about this investigation. He can yell and scream a lot. He can send formal letters. He can even hold hearings that no one will watch. But none of it will amount to anything. And Jordan knows this.

We’ve all seen this movie before, and we know where it goes – or rather where it doesn’t go. We’ve seen Jim Jordan stomp his feet in the general direction of everyone from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. The result is always the same. These prosecutors simply tell Jordan to go to hell, and that’s that.

So no, Jim Jordan can’t actually do anything to help Leonard Leo or anyone else who might be under criminal investigation. The only real story here is that Jordan is worried enough about this Washington DC Attorney General probe that he’s sounding the alarm about it. Can’t wait to find out why Jordan is so worried about it.
