Max has made its name as the go-to streaming service for HBO content, but it’s also the home of several Max originals and classic Warner Bros. films. Among the mix of Emmy Award-winning shows available on the streaming service is Games of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, which returns for its second season this Sunday. And just in time for the premiere, Max is rolling out a one-week free trial so you can get caught up on the series and see the first episode when it airs.

In our guide to the best streaming services of 2024, Max was named the best for critically acclaimed content. And it’s true, you’ll find no shortage of Emmy and Oscar-winning content. In a more recent development, you can now catch several live sports events through the streaming service, so there’s something for everyone with each subscription.

Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about the Max free trial, including what you’ll get, who’s eligible, and how long the limited-time offer lasts. Plus, we’ll break down details on the extra add-on you can currently enjoy for free.

How to get Max free trial

You can sign up for Max’s one-week free trial any time from now until June 23. Only new customers are eligible for the free trial. You just need to go to Max’s website and click “Start Free Trial” on your chosen plan, and it will prompt you to create an account.

How much is Max?

After one week, the free trial will end, and you’ll be automatically charged for a Max monthly subscription at the tier that you were trying (unless you decide to cancel before then). Max has three different plans: With Ads ($9.99 a month), Ad-Free ($16.99 a month), and Ultimate Ad-Free ($20.99). Ultimate Ad-Free has 4K Ultra HD video quality, 100 downloads, Dolby Atmos audio, and allows you to stream on four devices at once.

What’s on Max?

Max is the home of all HBO content, from classics like The Sopranos to newer releases like House of the Dragon. This is also where you’ll be able to find Game of Thrones if you can’t get enough after House of the Dragon. The streaming service also houses many Warner Bros. films, including Dune: Part One and Part Two, and Max original series, like Hacks and Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.

All Max subscriptions currently include the B/R Sports Add-on, which brings live sports to the streaming service. The add-on live streams games shown on TNT, TBS, truTV, etc., in addition to other select sporting events like MotoGP and cycling. While you’ll have to wait until next season to catch any more NBA or NHL games here, you can currently live stream several top MLB games. The service is currently a free addition to Max, but it will, in the future, cost an additional $9.99 a month.
